Top Ten Movies I Want To See Based on Trailers

Wow, that's an unwieldy title.
Okay, so here's what this is all about. Most of the time, the reason I see a movie is because an actor I like is in it, or I like the director, or someone cool told me it was awesome, etc. I don't usually just decide to see a movie based on a trailer. So I took a look at twenty some trailers of movies that I want to see (but haven't seen yet), and then made a list of the ten that I would choose to see based JUST on the trailer. Here we go in order:

#10 - Reservoir Dogs.
What can I say, it looks fun. From the trailer it looks like a nice pulpy crime movie with a bit of comedy stirred in. Sounds good to me! For those of you not in the know, Reservoir Dogs is an early Tarantino movie that's been called the "Greatest Independent Film of All Time" by Empire.

Edit - Seen it, it's a fun Quentin Tarintino movie, dialogue is great, but it's still his first movie, not as good as anything he's done since. 3/4

#9 - Blade
Speaking of fun, lets try a movie about a half-vampire killing vampires with swords and various other bladed weapons. What more can you ask for? Nothing, that's what.

Edit - Seen it. This movie is so much fun. It's just a blast of bloody goodness. 3.5/4

#8 - Conan The Barbarian
I have a soft spot for sword and sorcery movies. I have a soft spot for movies with Arnold (Read Aunuld) in them. I really want to see this movie.

Edit - Seen it. Conan is Conan. The classic sword and sorcery movie. A freaking gorgeous masterpiece. Conan, what is best in life? 4/4

#7 - Inception
No I haven't seen Inception yet. I missed it when it came to my theater, and now I'm going to have to wait for a dvd release. Yes, my life sucks.

Edit - Seen it. An awesome piece of work that is less of a sci-fi movie (which I expected) and much more of a drama. Excellent characters and a well thought out plot. Smart film-making. 4/4

#6 - Moon
Nope, haven't seen this one yet either. But it really looks great.

Edit - Seen it. It was honestly disappointing. It gives you exactly what it shows in the trailer, but that's about it. It's good enough, but it never lives up to it's premise or the trailer. It does everything right, Sam Rockwell is a great actor, the visual aesthetic is beautiful, the pace is great. But the story never really does anything. 2.5/4 For disappointing me.

#5 - Lord of War
I'm not really sure why I want to watch this film so much. It looks like a pretty preachy film, which is usually something I have a problem with, but not right now. It's something about Nicholas Cage's opening line in this trailer that makes the difference for me.
Edit - Seen it. Some clever black humour mixed with bleak morality and a standout performance by Nicholas Cage makes this a good movie. 3/4

#4 - American Psycho
This is where my most favorite trailers start. I don't know how much I'll like the movie, but I LOVE this trailer. The contrast of the song with the visuals is what really sells it for me, but I'm honestly a big fan of serial killers and Christian Bale, so this one's kind of a no-brainer.

#3 - Sin City
Oh wow. Just wow. I remember the first time I saw this trailer. I still haven't seen the movie. I still want to. I still feel the same way every time I see this trailer. Stylized action violence plus a grimy, grungy crime feel, all directed by Robert Rodriguez? Why have I not seen this yet?
Edit - Seen it. It's noir on steroids. It's fun, bloody, and dark. Instead of making a comic book into a movie, Rodriguez makes a movie into a comic book. Well done sir. 4/4

#1 (Tie) - Scott Pilgrim vs. The World
I just can't help myself, I really can't. I still haven't seen this movie. It never came to my theater, probably because my theater only has two screens and Scott Pilgrim was a box-office flop. I don't care, this trailer rocks my socks to the max and I love it.
Edit - Oh have I seen it! Blew me away. I got it for Christmas, and I've watched it about three times a week since. And that's going easy. It's a romance, a comedy, and an action movie. This was THE movie for me this year. On my all time list of favorites. 5/4

#1 (Tie) - Inglorious Bastards
And I want my scalps!
Edit - Seen it. This may be my favorite Tarantino movie. Depending on the day, I might pick this over Pulp Fiction. Depends on the day. If you like Tarantino's films, this is a must see. 4/4
