Ghostbusters (1984)
Don't you just love how awful 80's trailers are? I mean, if this trailer was all I had to go on, I probably wouldn't have been incredibly interested in this movie. But, because I was lucky enough to be born well after the movies release date, I had the benefit of hindsight, and all the powers of pop culture on my side to tell me that Ghostbusters was awesome long before I saw the movie. But, in case you live under a rock in northern Ontario, let me tell you exactly how awesome Ghostbusters is.
Pretty damn awesome. Ghostbusters tells the story of a group of paranormal researchers who get kicked out of their University. They decide to go into business as 'ghostbusters'. That's the basic plot, lots more stuff happens, (and I mean LOTS) but that's the bare bones. Now go see the movie.
Fine, you want a bit more. Bill Murray stars in what may be his most famous role as Peter Venkman, the witty, charming master of deadpan sarcasm. He by himself is a reason to watch this movie. I really don't want to elaborate any more. The movie is great on all counts: great story, great acting, hilarious, and best of all it's fun. If you haven't seen it you owe it to yourself to go check it out.
